“Wisdom of the Land” – lectures and trips with an Israeli focus, we invite you to fall in love with Israel all over again! Hachamat Ha’aretz is a project established to respond to the burning need to improve Israel’s image in the world, for the benefit of every Israeli. While working in the field, the picture grew clearer: before we go out into the world and do outreach, it is important that we, as Israelis, connect to our land and our country and fall in love with it anew. The project operates in two ways: lectures on Israeli information and trips in the country – two ways that combine together and rekindle in us the love for our country and the pride of being Israeli.

In the winter of 1884, the second candle of Hanukkah, two young members of the Bilo movement arrived at the slopes of an exposed hill near the Arab village of Katara. They twisted twigs and lit two bonfires against two Hanukkah candles. Later seven of their friends joined them. The nine settled in a wooden hut and began to cultivate the fields. This is how Gedera was founded. Tribulations and difficulties were the property of the Bilaviim, but the number of settlers kept increasing and after a few years the colony developed and became established. Gedera’s story is actually the story of the establishment of the State of Israel – a story of vision, determination, action and the fulfillment of the dream.
Agronan self-harvesting is an agricultural area covering about 40 dunams of land.
The beginning of the “journey” was in 1995 with the planting of the first black raspberry area, in the scope of only one dunam.
Over the years, we planted additional areas of black raspberries, mulberry trees, pitango, and sycamore.
We built a dedicated greenhouse for strawberries. We planted special varieties of red raspberries, we added a plot of pomegranates and for dessert… we added a plot of blueberries!
The first goal leading our activities in the harvesting area is full accessibility for all ages and all types of the population!
All raspberries grow on the dahlia system so that the fruits are from the ground level up to two meters.
The 4000 square meter strawberry greenhouse was specially designed so that the field strawberries grow in the air, on two floors, a situation that allows easy and convenient picking for children and adults alike, and of course convenient and easy access to strollers and wheelchairs.
We built a 300 square meter underground tunnel for strawberries, in the air, on two floors, with large passages
And this in order to allow the arrival of groups during the week. This tunnel is adapted for a population with special needs.
The trees growing in the picking area: strawberries, pitango, shasak and pomegranates, are pruned and tied in a special way so that the fruit can be picked easily and conveniently.
