The beginning of the “journey” was in 1995 with the planting of the first black raspberry area, in the scope of only one dunam. Over the years, we planted additional areas of black raspberries, mulberry trees, pitango and sak.
We built a dedicated greenhouse for strawberries. We planted special varieties of red raspberries, we added a plot of pomegranates and for dessert… we added a plot of blueberries!
The first goal leading our activities in the harvesting area is full accessibility for all ages and all types of the population!
All raspberries grow on the dahlia system so that the fruits are from the ground level up to two meters.
The 4000 square meter field strawberry greenhouse was specially designed so that the field strawberries grow in the air, on two floors, a situation that allows easy and convenient picking for children and adults alike, and of course convenient and easy access for strollers and wheelchairs.
We built a 300 square meter underground tunnel for strawberries, in the air, on two floors, with large passages
And this in order to allow the arrival of groups during the week. This tunnel is adapted for a population with special needs.
The trees growing in the picking area: strawberries, pitango, shasak and pomegranates, are pruned and tied in a special way so that the fruit can be picked easily and conveniently.

Habiluim Courtyard
As part of activities to preserve and restore the buildings, the atmosphere and the character that existed in the first years in the fence, an inner courtyard was renovated and restored, which fits in as a historical bubble in the present. The place has a variety of representative complexes, boutique shops, a restaurant, a gallery and a stunning picturesque courtyard. Welcome to visit.
Yashurun Great Synagogue
During the immigration of young people from the Bilo Association to Israel, some of them settled in Gedera, and at the initiative of Rabbi Yechiel Michal Pins who helped them in settling in the city, they established the first synagogue in Gedera. The synagogue was the first building erected in Gedera.
Initially, one of the shacks was used as a synagogue, and only in 1912 was built on the site of the shack, the synagogue known today, located at the top of the hill on Habiloyim Street[1].
The synagogue has a two-story structure, on the lower floor is the men’s help, and above it is the women’s help.
After its construction, the synagogue was used for other uses: meetings of the community board were held there, it was also used for a time as a school, and a gathering place for various public events. During the First World War in 1917, Jews hid on the roof of the building in order to avoid service in the Turkish army. Also during the British Mandate, the basement of the building was used as a ‘slick’ for the defense forces.
At the founding of the state, the building was used as the offices of the local council.
Over the years the synagogue was renovated several times, between 1954-1961 the building was renovated and expanded, and since then it has been used as the main synagogue of the city of Gedera. In 2004-2006, the building was renovated once more.
Gedera Sportech
The area of the Sportech, which is located in Mizrah Gedera and covers about 20 dunams, includes basketball and soccer fields, handball, omega park, bike paths, sports and fitness facilities, playgrounds for children, fitness facilities and lawns. The new Sportek was built with a lot of thought so that it will be used by the residents even in the winter days, therefore a large part of it is covered. The Sportek is networked with security cameras that operate 24 hours a day. The Sportstech parking lot is on Harez Street in front of the Goniim School. Sportech operating hours: 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, including Friday and Saturday.

Food Forest
Throughout the world there is successful experience in designing agricultural systems as an imitation of natural ecosystems. The idea is simple and elegant: by applying natural principles in agriculture we can design a stable, sustainable and productive system. Thus, by minimal intervention, we create an edible forest, which provides useful plants and a pleasant home for the creatures living in it. The edible forest in Kidron, which covers 17 dunams, is the first edible forest in Israel. The forest was established, in the fall of 2011, by Hadas Hochberg and Saar Ostreicher, as a site for research, development and demonstration of the subject.
And here today is a mature forest, a model for sustainable agriculture inspired by the Mediterranean forest, consciously designed for human benefit. In the forest, work was done to preserve runoff and various techniques were applied to restore and heal the soil. Hundreds of different types of useful plants were planted: fruit trees, plants for improving the soil, vegetables, medicinal plants, herbs and spices.
